Aastra 8000i Video Conferencing and Apps Phone
Aastra's new multimedia end point BluStar HD Video Conferencing "App Phone"

We have pulled together content from the web on the 8000i (or BluStar platform).

Before you get too engrossed here is a humerous clip Aastra posted on You Tube that does believe it or not get across some important user capabilities of the platform. (click here)

The User Group would be interested in receiving members views on a end point device like this and how you feel it can be best communicated to the end user community. With the ongoing pressure on costs is video going to now become a more mainstream communication tool for business? Analysts claim large growth projections, but what'is new there! Aastra indicate this end point is going to bring a high functionality and cost effectiveness, we await more details on pricing and on UK availability.

What we do know however is video is going to demand a degree of specialist involvement from both the partner and from within the customer, it is not just another application, similar to voice it has real time needs.

We do not know what Aastra go to market strategy is going to be in the UK, it would however be useful to find out who should this be directed to within your business, AV team, IT/IS, Comms Management or Facilities team (anyone I missed?). Video had a big footprint at the last UCEXPO exhibition, is there now a real interest within businesses to take video to the entire enterprise?
